Dinosaur Fossil Morphological Characteristics

The size and life style of dinosaurs can be restored and inferred from the fossils found, but the color of dinosaur skin cannot be found in fossils, so it can only be speculated based on the understanding of existing animals. According to paleontologists' speculation, large dinosaurs may have had stripes or spots as protective colors, and the colors would have been brighter. During mating, parts of the male dinosaur's head and skin may show bright colors like modern birds, making it easier to attract the favor of the opposite sex.
The dinosaurs that can be seen in museums are actually only a small part of the fossil inventory. For example, the Museum of Earth Sciences at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, stores nearly 100 tons of fossils that have not yet had their gypsum shells removed. Many museum basements have shelves or drawers stuffed with labeled fossilized dinosaur bones, most of which sit untouched for years, waiting for scientists to study them. Some paleontologists identify entirely new species of dinosaurs from one or two bones unearthed hundreds of years ago that no one has studied or identified incorrectly.
